Sporting CP move collapses for ex-West Brom midfielder Sandro

Former West Brom midfielder Sandro has seen a move to Sporting CP fall through.

The Independent says Albion had an option to buy the 27-year-old for £4m this summer following his loan spell at The Hawthorns, but turned down the offer from Queens Park Rangers.

The Championship side then agreed to sell Sandro for £1.5m to Sporting, but his three-year deal fell through after a medical revealed a problem with his knee.

The Brazilian made 13 appearances for the Baggies after joining the club on loan in January, but started just six times.

QPR are keen to get rid of Sandro, who has one year left on his contract, because his wages are believed to be around £50,000 a week.

Although Sandro wanted to stay at Albion permanently, the Express & Star says club's coaching staff were not convinced enough by his performances to warrant such a pay-out for a midfielder who failed to dethrone Claudio Yacob from the holding midfield role.
