The Sunday People reports that Arsenal are poised to make a £5million move for Sporting CP's Cedric Soares.

The Gunners have held a long-term interest in the Portuguese international and considered making a bid for the player in January but were put off by his lofty £20m price tag.

According to the report, right-back Soares is under contract until 2016 but has rejected a new deal, paving the way for Arsenal to sign him for a cut-price £5.

The 23-year-old has been with Sporting since joining the club's academy as an eight-year old in 1999.
