New Sporting CP coach Jorge Jesus expects William Carvalho to start the season with them.

The midfielder, fresh from an outstanding U21 Euros campaign with Portugal, is being linked with Arsenal and Liverpool.

However, Jesus is adamant he is counting on Carvalho for the new season.

"William is a certainty. Sporting has young people who are already certainties, they are not hopes or doubts. William will be enhanced if the team is also.

"He's a player with potential to play more. I have no doubt that with me he will play more."
