Football West, the governing body of soccer in Western Australia, has signed a three-year sponsorship deal with Healthway, a state government organisation which promotes healthy lifestyles, reports SportsPro. Healthway is sponsored by tax on tobacco products and its agreement with Football West will see the organisation promote a series of anti-smoking messages.
In total, the deal is worth just over US$930,000 to Football West.
Healthway chair Rosanna Capolingua said the deal was an indication of Western Australian sports organisations moving in the right direction, with regard to health messages.
She said: "Soccer has made a very clear choice about having only healthy sponsorship and there are now only a handful of sports that are not coming onboard."
