Celtic pushed five points ahead of title rivals Rangers with a narrow 1-0 win over St Mirren today. The Hoops were less than impressive at Celtic Park but did what they needed to do to record a 23rd win of the season and stake their claims for another Scottish Premiership.
Kris Common's 78th minute strike proved the difference on the day and now the ball is back in Rangers' court as they prepare for the trip to Hamilton Academical tomorrow.
In other SPL matches, Hibernian moved up to eighth with a 1-0 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie Stadium thanks to Akpo Sodje's 15th minute goal, Dundee United bounced back to winning ways with a 2-0 home result over St Johnstone, Inverness held Kilmarnock to a 1-1 draw at Rugby Park whilst Heart of Midlothian and Motherwell played out a scoreless draw in Edinburgh.
