The Scottish Premier League will no longer allow clubs to groundshare, following the fixture backlog facing Motherwell and Gretna.
However, a wet winter and a pitch which is used every Saturday has resulted in a spate of call-offs. "I think we have seen the end of groundsharing in the SPL. I don't think we would allow it again after this season's lessons at Fir Park," a senior Scottish football source told BBC Sport.
As a result of the problems, Motherwell will upgrade the entire playing surface and replace both the drainage and under-soil heating systems in the summer.
