Spiranovic hoping Urawa Reds can simply be competitive

Matthew Spiranovic is unsure of some critics' belief that Urawa Reds will be challenging for the J-League title this season.

The Reds are being tipped to battle it out for the championship in Japan's top division in 2012 despite finishing one spot above the drop zone last term and Australian international defender Spiranovic believes it will b a difficult task to bounce back so swiftly.

"The talk in Japan is that Urawa are now going to be title contenders, but we'll see," he told Goal.com.

"We're just working hard. It's a lot to ask, one year you're fighting relegation and the next you're going to be champions. That's a bit too early to say. I think we definitely want to improve."
