Spezia target Goian keen to remain with Rangers

Rangers defender Dorin Goian has revealed that he has been pleasantly surprised by the standard of Scotland's Third Division.

The Romanian centre-back, who has been linked with Italian Serie B club Spezia, was keen to move on from Glasgow when he knew the club would be dropping to the fourth tier.

But after experiencing life down the bottom of the Scottish Football League, Goian says he is not looking for a move away as he feels the competition is very healthy.

"I cannot leave Rangers for Spezia. Even though we're in the bottom tier I am still playing for a world-famous team," he told the Daily Record.

"Before we started in this league I thought we'd be playing against fat amateurs.

"But I've encountered many good, young players. Even if they don't quite have the qualities to make it they're hard working."
