Spence returns to West Ham from Bristol loan

West Ham United manager Avram Grant has recalled youngster Jordan Spence from his loan spell with Bristol City.

The 20-year old defender has been brought back into the Hammers squad as Grant deals with a mini defensive crisis ahead of the final three matches of the season.

Spence made 11 Championship appearances for Bristol and was selected in the preliminary squad for England's U21 European Championship campaign this summer.

Bottom-of-the-table West Ham take on 16th-placed Blackburn Rovers at Upton Park on Saturday and are likely to be without Matthew Upson and James Tomkins hence Grant's need for Spence to return.
