Wales boss Gary Speed can't believe the criticism copped by Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney this season.
Rooney has scored once in his last 14 England appearances.
Speed, taking charge of Wales for only the second time, said: "I'm surprised at the level of criticism Wayne has received for his performances over the last year. He can't play well in every game - nobody can. But what a player can do is give something to the team in every game.
"You always see him running back, chasing the ball and winning it back, even if he is not playing well."
