Spearing says Liverpool still hope for Euro qualification

Liverpool midfielder Jay Spearing insists no-one is giving up on qualifying for the Europa League.

Liverpool midfielder Jay Spearing insists no-one is giving up on qualifying for the Europa League.

With eight games remaining in the Barclays Premier League this term, the Reds midfielder claims confidence is high in the camp.

"We want to go on a great run now until the end of the season and try and clinch that fifth place," Spearing told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"It was disappointing to go out of Europe but I don't see why we can't achieve that fifth place.

"If we play like we did last Sunday at Sunderland and also like we did at home against Manchester United then I don't see why not.

"The run-in is okay. We've got a few difficult games but they will also be difficult for the opposition.

"Everyone needs a bit of luck and we need to concentrate on ourselves, take each game as it comes and not look ahead to what games we have got coming up.

"We need three points from our next game at West Bromwich Albion to put pressure on the other teams."
