Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez has suffered a setback in their bid Spartak Moscow winger Aiden McGeady.

Wigan were convinced the Spartak Moscow winger was on his way to the DW Stadium this morning.

Instead the former Celtic man has had a last minute change of heart and has opted to remain in Russia.

Martinez said: "He is a very talented player, someone I really admire, but it is not a realistic target for this window.

"The reality is it cannot happen."
