Spartak Moscow are desperate not to lose Quincy Promes this month.
The Holland striker is a £30m target for Southampton and negotiations are underway.
Spartak chief Nail Izmailov told RT: "He should not leave, not at the moment.
"I would not like the champion team from last season to be dismantled, because they can match and even exceed the results of last season."
However, Promes' new deal, which runs to 2021, now carries a buyout clause in the region of £35m - so leaving Spartak vulnerable to a big spending rival.
