Spartak Moscow winger Quincy Promes has confirmed the interest of Manchester United.

Spartak officials have insisted they beat United to Promes' signing last summer and the young attacker has confirmed the claims.

"I can confirm that United was interested," the 23-year Promes told Sovsport. "But there was never a concrete offer. I never talked about a transfer fee.

"I honestly was not ready to go to Manchester. I was probably going to be sitting on the bench and with Spartak I will always play.

"I feel comfortable here."
