Sparta Rotterdam have played down reports that they're in talks with Tony Adams about the coaching position next season.

Former Portsmouth boss Adams has been linked with Foeke Booy's job at Sparta, with the current head coach to return to Utrecht in the summer to become their football director.

Sparta chief Richard Grootscholte said: "I read in the newspaper that he (Adams) has interest. We take all coaches who are interested in signing with us seriously, but this is news to me. I'm surprised."
