Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate says they can be proud of being the Northeast's top team.
"Resource-wise and in terms of fans, Newcastle are a massive club," Southgate said. "For us to be ahead of them is phenomenal. We should enjoy it, but we're not satisfied."
