Southgate delighted with early season form of Leicester defender Maguire

England coach Gareth Southgate is delighted with the early season form of Leicester City defender Harry Maguire.

Southgate expressed his admiration for the maturity of Leicester's Maguire, who after his excellent World Cup missed out on a move to Manchester United in the summer.

"I admired the fact that Harry has just got on with it," Southgate said. "That tells you a lot about his personality. He felt that Leicester had given him a good opportunity.

"I apologised to Jon Rudkin [Leicester's director of football] in the summer. I said: 'Look you're going to probably get a lot of interest, but at least we've doubled his value!'

"I think those things take care of themselves. There will be a natural moment for any player where club and player feel it's the right thing and there will be a profit made."
