England coach Gareth Southgate admits Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton is pushing West Ham's Joe Hart in his plans.

Heaton's attitude, dedication and form have delighted England boss Gareth Southgate.

Southgate said: “We have got five very good goalkeepers and one of the reasons the team has done so well is everybody's level of training.

“But Tom would be one whose level has been outstanding and has really set the tone for everyone else.

“Those things can be overlooked sometimes but when you've got lads who aren't playing but still affect the rest of the group, I think that's a really important sign.

“Tom's done that with his professionalism during the last week, when we've had the squad together.

“I'm not discounting Jack Butland here, but Tom has stood out."
