Southend United boss Phil Brown is ready to hand a chance to former Southampton and Newcastle striker Nile Ranger.
The Southend Echo says Ranger is set to sign for Southend United on a month-long deal.
The controversial striker has been involved in a number of disciplinary issues, but Southend are ready to offer him another chance.
The League One club will have the option of extending his contract beyond a month if Ranger impresses, but will also be free to terminate the deal “if he misbehaves".
