Southend United boss Phil Brown hopes to keep hold of Sunderland defender John Egan.
Egan, released by Sunderland last week, joined Southend on loan in February and made 15 appearances for the Shrimpers as they reached the League Two play-offs.
Liverpool defender Jakub Sokolik is also a confirmed target for Brown: "We've put a marker down with both John and Jakub and made reference to the fact that we would very much like them to stay but I'm sure they could have a few offers."
