Southend have assured supporters that no outstanding money is owed to Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs. The Shrimpers were due in the High Court on March 16 faced with a winding-up order issued last month but the owed sum of money, believed to have been in the region of £20,000, has now been paid.
The statement on the club's official website said: "Southend United can advise supporters that there are no outstanding amounts due to HM Revenue and Customs.
"HMRC issued a winding-up petition last month when a payment was a few days late.
"Written confirmation has now been received from HMRC confirming the petition will be withdrawn in the High Court on the 16th March."
