Southend boss Brown targets Premier League return

Southend United boss Phil Brown hopes to work again in the Premier League.

The Shrimpers are now on the cusp of automatic promotion after a 3-0 win against promotion rivals Chesterfield at the weekend.

"I want to manage in the Premier League and be at that level again," the former Hull City manager told the Daily Express.

"I am not saying I have got unfinished business - it is just you want to manage at the highest level. Simple as. The only thing you have to do is get a promotion or two on your CV.

"So I am grateful to Southend chairman Ron Martin for being prepared to take a chance on me. He gave me an opportunity and there were a lot of people who were not prepared to. There were a lot of people frightened of taking on this madman.

"I am not a madman. I might be a little bit different but I am motivated by football."
