Southampton striker Ricki Lambert accepts he could lose his England place, despite recent heroics.
He concedes the return of Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Daniel Sturridge will mean a role starting from the bench.
Lambert, 31, who scored in his first two appearances, against Scotland and Moldova, said: "I understood that the chances of me playing in Kiev would have been slim if the other forwards were available.
"It has been an exciting few weeks for me. And I just hope it is going to continue.
"All I can do is give the manager another option."
