Liverpool should already have a deal for Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk, it has been revealed.
The Daily Star says they were 'close to getting' Van Dijk in a £50m deal in July before the deal fell through after Southampton accused the Reds of tapping up the Dutch star.
Saints were furious about Liverpool's communication with the centre-back and forced them to back off and make a grovelling apology.
But Jurgen Klopp almost had his man, with a deal all but done in July before the scandal broke out.
Now the Reds must look for an alternative with Saints refusing to do business with them.
