Southampton want to sign on-loan Tottenham fullback Phil Ifil permanently.

Ifil, 20, has been in good form during the first six games of his loan spell and has attracted interest from several other clubs. Saints hope Spurs boss Juande Ramos will allow the player to leave in January.
