Southampton have reportedly made an approach to sign Walter Zenga as their new manager.
According to The Sun, the Saints have made contact with the Italian regarding the vacancy left at St Mary's by Ronald Foeman's move to Everton.
Former goalkeeper Zenga, 58, last coached UAE club Al-Shaab in February and is ready to return to the management caper.
Southampton owner Katherine Liebherr has given the go-ahead to pursue Zenga who has been in charge of 15 clubs during his managerial career, including stints in the USA with New England Revolution, in Romania with Steaua Bucharest and in his native Italy with Catania, Palermo and Sampdoria.
It is understood that Zenga is confident that the job on the south coast is his, according to the report.
