English League One outfit Southampton are reportedly trying to secure a work permit for Benfica forward Freddy Adu.
The 20-year old American is again being linked with a move after spending much of the past few seasons on loan with French club AS Monaco, Portugal's Belenenses and Greece's Aris Thessaloniki.
He is expected to return to Aris next season as Benfica have him furthering his development in a first team environment but Southampton have emerged as a potential destination.
It is unsure if the Saints want to bring Adu to St Mary's Stadium permanently or on loan.
