Newcastle United winger Andros Townsend is a target for Southampton.

The Sun says he can grab a Premier League lifeline with Southampton if Newcastle are relegated.

The Toon winger, 24, has been superb since moving to St James' Park in January from Tottenham.

He scored a stunner to beat Palace yesterday and keep alive Newcastle's hopes of beating the drop.

A Saints source said: “Ronald Koeman wanted to sign Andros before because he really likes the player.

“He'll be keeping an eye on his situation because we're certain Andros won't want to spend a year in the Championship."
