Southampton teammates defend firebrand Osvaldo

Southampton teammates has defended Dani Osvaldo over his post-match ruck after defeat to Aston Villa.

Osvaldo had to be restrained by the Saints' manager Mauricio Pochettino during a post-match melee.

"It is part of his character and that is the way he is," said teammate Ward-Prowse. "In some ways it is bad, as obviously it does not look great.

"But fair play to him - he is passionate and wants to win. He has been working hard in training and you can see how desperate and passionate he is in the games to do well.

"I think he can go on a run now.

"That is what you want from all your players, so hopefully he can get on a roll and get a few goals."
