The 27-year-old striker is on loan at his former club Doncaster who sold him to Southampton for £1.8m in 2012.
Sharp is set to face Brighton today, desperate to impress and said: "I'm not too sure what will happen, I'll just have to speak to Southampton to see what they want to do.
"Hopefully I can put myself in the shop window.
"I don't want to go out on loan all the time but I'd rather go out on loan than sit and rot which is what I have been doing at Southampton.
"Hopefully I can tie something down permanently at the end of the season. I just feel in the last 12 months I've not played much football. I want to help Doncaster out and climb up the table.
"I have a good relationship with the fans and hopefully I can score a lot of goals while I'm here."
