Southampton striker Sharp happy to make Reading move

Southampton striker Billy Sharp is delighted with his move to Reading.

The striker, who is no longer in the first-team plans at St Mary's, was reunited yesterday with his former manager, Nigel Adkins, at the Madejski Stadium.

"Finally it's done and hopefully now I can get my career back on track," said Sharp.

"I'm grateful to Reading for showing the belief in me to sign me. Hopefully I can repay the faith."

Sharp was reluctant to speak about his situation at Saints when quizzed on being frozen out of the team.

"That's football," was all he said initially.

However, when asked about his summer, he did add: "It's been a tough, frustrating time, but it's just another challenge in your life.

"Hopefully now I've come to a good place, where I can come and show people what I can do.

"The last few months have been frustrating, but hopefully things are going to be a lot better in the future."
