Southampton striker Rodriguez: I feel I'm improving in England training

Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez has no doubts he's a better player for this week's involvement with England.

The 24-year-old admits he had mixed emotions after his debut in defeat to Chile.

"It was a memorable day for me with my first cap, but I'm obviously disappointed with the result," said Rodriguez.

"It's a learning curve for me - I want to learn more and improve.

"I thought Chile were brilliant - I'd have liked a few more chances, but the way they played pinned us back a little bit.

"I tried to keep the ball as much as I could and I tried to do the best I can.

"It was obviously a different sort of game to what I'm used to because it was an international, so you're playing with and against international-standard players.

"The standard is unbelievable, and I've learned so much in the short time I've spent with them."
