Southampton striker Rodriguez hoping for long Cup run

Jay Rodriguez is targeting a long FA Cup run with Southampton.

Rodriguez chose not to celebrate his goal in victory over former club Burnley on Saturday.

"I did it out of respect to my old club," Rodriguez told the Daily Echo. "I still support them and still look out for them. I think it was good to show respect to them.

"Obviously we are disappointed with the goals conceded, but we are through to the next round, which is the man thing.

"It is very important and every player in there wants to go as far as we can in the FA Cup.

"It is a big cup for us and we want to get a good cup run going, so it is very important for us to make it through each round."
