Charlie Austin is co-operating with police after colliding with a cyclist in his car last year, according to The Sun.
The Southampton striker accidentally drove into a man riding his bicycle near the south coast city's centre in October, leaving the cyclist in a critical condition.
Austin, 27, quickly attended to the man who was rushed to hospital and has been gradually recovering with the Saints ace regularly checking in.
Police took a statement from Austin but he has not yet been charged.
Austin said in a statement to The Sun: “In late October 2016, I was driving in the city centre of Southampton and had stopped at traffic lights at a junction.
“I moved forward when the lights turned green and it was at that point that a cyclist unexpectedly came across my path and a collision occurred.
“Following a police investigation of the accident, I provided a statement to the Hampshire Constabulary in early 2017 to give them my version of events."
