Gaston Ramirez is happy with his move to Southampton.

The former Bologna winger had long been linked with the likes of Inter Milan, Manchester City and Liverpool.

But he explained to TMW: "The only concrete offer, real and direct was that of Southampton. They were very strong in their approach and convinced me to accept.

"I gave my all for Bologna. I did my best and I carry them in my heart. But then there are situations that people do not know ..."

Ramirez blasted Bologna president Albano Guaraldi.

"Guaraldi called me wrong, but the truth is that he lied to me in the face twice, spoke to the press instead of me. He never talked about things to my face, he did nothing to make me stay.

"I wanted to play in England, a league that I always liked. Here I had an interesting opportunity, Southampton wanted me and believed in me."
