Southampton's treatment of Lallana, Lovren, Lambert disappoints Liverpool boss

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted he was disappointed with the reception Adam Lallana received at Southampton this weekend.

The England midfielder left St Mary's last summer to join the Reds after spending close to 15 years with the Saints and on Sunday was booed by fans of the south coast club which did not resonate well with Rodgers.

Lallana, along with Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert, all departed Southampton to move to Anfield and the trio were hardly mentioned in the match programme which also got on Rodgers' nerves.

"Today was always going to be difficult for the likes of Dejan and Adam," said Rodgers after his side's 2-0 win.

"I was a bit disappointed for him. He was captain here for two years, gave incredible service and could have left a number of times and didn't.

"To get the reception he did was disappointing. There was nothing in the match programme referencing his time here.

"No mention too for Lambert as well. Those two guys gave their heart and soul to Southampton and were big supporters of this club.

"They've moved to one of the biggest clubs in the world. Those two guys were wonderful servants.

"It was a massive decision for them to come to Liverpool. For former servants or players, there's always some appreciation. But nothing here.

"For me that's a wee bit sad. I was thinking of them today looking at the programme before the game.

"Everything they gave to this club to get them here today, and not a mention."
