Southampton's Clyne willing to grasp England opportunity

Promising full-back Nathaniel Clyne is determined to grab his chance with the England national team with both hands.

The 23-year old has been called up by Roy Hodgson for this Saturday's Euro2016 against Slovenia and next week's friendly with Scotland as reward for his fine performances with Southampton so far this season.

Clyne will be hoping to make his international debut in either of the two matches and admits he is looking to make the most of the opportunity after being preferred to regular England right-back Glen Johnson.

"It shows that I am getting credit for the good performances that I have been putting in," said Clyne.

"I've been given my chance now and I am going to make it count.

"I am ready for any game, really. If it is against Slovenia or Scotland, I will prepare myself and get myself ready for the game.

"I feel I am at the best of my ability at the moment. I am playing well and I am taking this confidence into the internationals."

Clyne has started in all 11 Premier League matches this season, becoming a key part of the Saints defence which sits second on the table with easily the best defensive record in the competition.
