Southampton's Chinese owner commits to huge St. Mary's revamp

Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger has revealed that the club's Chinese owners are committed to investing in a three-year refurbishment programme of the St. Mary's Stadium.

Southampton fans still do not know what to make of new majority owner Gao Jisheng and explaining the plans of the Chinese businessman for the Saints, Krueger has revealed that the owner wants to refurbish the St. Mary's Stadium, develop the club's Staplewood training facility, and is considering purchases around the ground to allow the club further commercial growth.

Krueger said: "I think they (fans) need to look at it more encouragingly that they have come in here and are respecting what the club stands for, how the club culturally functions, and what we have here.

"I think the norm would be making huge splashes and changing the faces of the board and so on and so forth which is what they have purposely not done. Everybody will get to know them over time."
