Liverpool have turned down Southampton in their pursuit of Mamadou Sakho.
The Daily Mail reports that the Saints have been rejected in their request to take the French defender on loan.
Sakho, 26, has been frozen out by manager Jurgen Klopp and appears to have no future at Anfield, which prompted the Saints to go after him.
However, Liverpool are intent on selling the centre-back permanently and are seeking £20million for his signature.
Southampton see Sakho as an apt replacement for want-away captain Jose Fonte, who is attracting the attention of West Ham United.
It is understood that Crystal Palace, Swansea City and Sevilla have all asked after the former PSG man who is expected to leave Merseyside this month of the Reds receive a suitable offer
