Southampton have rejected an offer from West Ham United for Ricki Lambert.

The Daily Star says Saints have rejected a cheeky £2m bid from West Ham for Lambert.

Hammers manager Sam Allardyce wanted the England striker to fire the goals to steer his team away from the Premier League drop zone.

Lambert, 32 next month, only signed a new contract in March last year which keeps him at St Mary's until the summer of 2016.
