Arsenal have been told they must cough up for Southampton superkid Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The Daily Star says Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted he would like to sign the winger before the transfer window shuts on Monday.
But Saints won't let him leave without the Gunners stumping up big money.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, 17, is rated at around £10m.
But any thoughts Arsenal have of paying £5m up front and the rest in instalments will be rejected by the League One club.
A source said: "Southampton do not have to sell players for the sake of it and would not be interested in a down-payment deal."
