Southampton are planning to swoop for Atletico Madrid winger Nicolas Gaitan.
Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino is under immense pressure as his side sit above the relegation zone only by goal difference.
After selling Virgil Van Dijk to Liverpool for £75m, Pellegrino has plenty of money to revitalise his squad, and according to the Daily Express, Argentina international Gaitan fits the profile.
The 29-year-old, who shot to stardom with Benfica, has made just six La Liga appearances under Diego Simeone this season.
In order to keep his World Cup dreams alive, Gaitan is itching to leave the Spanish capital.
Everton and West Ham United have also expressed an interest in acquiring Gaitan's signature.
