Southampton No2 Jesus Perez was delighted with Harrison Reed's performance in their Capital One Cup defeat at Sunderland.

The 18 year-old midfielder was impressive on the night.

Perez told Saints' website: "It was one of the good news stories from today that he started his first professional game.

"We know the lad very well. He does very well in all the training sessions to try and get his opportunity in the First Team."
