Southampton fullback Yan Valery is delighted with his new contract.

The 18 year-old has penned terms to 2020.

"I'm pleased to get a contract extension with Southampton Football Club, I enjoy playing my football here," Valery said.

"It is a good club to be able to improve myself, so I'm really pleased.

"I keep working hard in training, to show what I can do to my coaches and show them they can trust me. I want to show this also to the first-team manager."

Meanwhile, Southampton majority shareholder Gao Jisheng was at St Mary's for Sunday's defeat to Liverpool.

Gao took in the game with the club's chairman Ralph Krueger and fellow owner Katharina Liebherr.
