Southampton have had an offer for midfielder Stefano Sturaro turned down by Juventu.
The Saints' bid of £12.7million has reportedly been rejected by the Italian champions who may now invite a bidding war for the 22-year-old.
Crystal Palace are also believed to be keen on the Italy U21 international who has emerged on the radar of Southampton as they eye a potential replacement for Victor Wanyama.
The Kenyan powerhouse has been told he cannot leave St Mary's until the summer but still Ronald Koeman is searching for a new central midfielder and Sturaro could become available as he sits behind Sami Khedira, Paul Pogba and Claudio Marchisio in the Juve pecking order.
