Southampton are keen to secure Matt Targett to a new deal.

The Mirror says several top clubs, including Chelsea, have been monitoring the England U19 defender, who has been at Saints since he was eight.

But Targett's agent, Leon Callender, said: "We are in discussions over a new contract. He is in the right place."

A five-year deal is close to being agreed.
