Steven Davis lauded Sadio Mane after his quick-fire hat-trick for Southampton on Saturday.

The Senegalese winger netted in the 13th, 14th and 16th minutes of the Saints' 6-1 hammering of Aston Villa at St Mary's and his performance prompted words of praise from teammate Davis.

"Since the turn of the year especially, we've seen the quality he's got. We see it every day in training," he said of Mane who now has 10 Premier League goals in his debut season in England.

"Obviously it's good to have players like that throughout the team who can go one-on-one, create chances and score goals.

"The way he's finishing this season, we're hopeful he'll take it into next season and carry on where he's left off from."
