Lille winger Sofiane Boufal is expected to undergo a Southampton medical on Monday.

The Mirror says Saints are edging closer to completing a record £17million swoop for Boufal.

The 22-year-old Moroccan attacking midfielder is due to complete a medical at St Mary's after the Saints thrashed out a deal with Lille.

That will land the French club £15.3m up front with a potential extra £1.7m on the way in add-ons, as well as a 15% sell-on clause.

Boufal is currently recovering from an injury sustained at the end of last season but is on course to make a September return, one which looks highly likely to be in the Premier League wearing a Southampton shirt.
