Southampton legend Le Tissier keen to see Hoddle take England post

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier feels Glenn Hoddle should take charge of England for the Euros.

Le Tissier says the FA need look no further than Hoddle to fill the England hotseat while a deal is thrashed out with Tottenham to secure the services of Harry Redknapp.

Le Tissier told the Sunday Mirror: "I think Harry is the right choice for the England job. The FA need an English manager and there are not many about who have the experience he has with big name players.

"But the whole thing is a bit of a mess and time is running out - as a courtesy to Spurs they must wait until the end of the season before they can talk properly."

Stuart Pearce has been in charge since Fabio Capello quit, but Le Tissier feels he may be lacking the credentials to take England into a major tournament.

"I'd like to see Glenn Hoddle take the squad. He's English, an excellent coach and has experience of taking England to a tournament.

"Why not make a brave decision to bring in Hoddle? Then the issue is settled and we can start preparing for the summer.

"That way if it is to be Harry coming in he gets a clean start for World Cup qualification."
