Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier feels chairman Nick Cortese will face a fans' backlash over the sacking of Nigel Adkins.
Adkins was replaced by Mauricio Pochettino yesterday.
Le Tissier told talkSPORT: "I don't think the chairman down at our places has done him any favours in the way he's gone about it and I think that there might be a little backlash to start with.
"I'm not quite sure about some of the things that happen down at that football club under the leadership of down there. It's quite bizarre really.
"It's a strange one. I feel a little bit sorry for the guy coming in [Mauricio Pochettino], to be honest with you, with the way that things have been done.
"He kind of stitched himself up in his press conference saying he'd been researching the team for a few weeks. It probably hasn't done him any favours basically telling everyone that he knew he had the job, he was just waiting for the time when Nigel got sacked, which doesn't sound too great."
